Account Executive Joe McGurk training ICV’s of Avon and Somerset

PCS are helping the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPPC) improve processes and efficiency, with a newly developed app that is making its way across the country’s OPCCs. Last week saw Avon and Somerset become another OPCC joining the paperless revolution, implementing the Independent Custody Visitor App throughout the region.

Working closely with Anna Hill, Avon and Somerset’s Custody Visiting and VCSE Officer, and ASB Champion, over 30 ICVs came together for training to experience the app first-hand with free lunches and hot drinks aplenty. The training was delivered by Martin Gordon (Formation Media/PCS, Managing Director) and Joe McGurk (Formation Media/PCS, Marketing Manager).

Anna was impressed by the speed at which PCS were able to work, as well as the smooth running of the process.

The team have worked closely with us throughout the whole journey, from initial discussions to the implementation of the app.  Moving away from a paper-based recording system for some of our ICVs was slightly daunting. However, once the ICV’s gained experience through the demo and hands-on training, their concerns were put to one side.  Not only is the app user-friendly and accurate for reporting visits, it will also help me hugely in the collating and analysis of data.

Along with the success at Avon and Somerset PCC, PCS is delighted the app is generating interest from other PCCs up and down the country, with a number currently in the process of testing the app before integrating it fully.
